Technical partnership with Intel: Ivybridge-EP and MKL Pardiso

In the frame of a technical partnership with Intel software teams, Free Field Technologies has been working on the integration of the Intel Pardiso MKL® multithreaded solver library (11.1.2) in Actran.
Applied to an industrial model the size of which exceeded 29 millions of degrees of freedom, a single node with 2 processors Intel® Xeon® E5-2680v2 @ 2.8 Ghz has allowed to perform the factorization phase, using a little less than 200 GB of memory, in less than 24 hours. This 3D vibro-acoustic model combined acoustic fluids, displacement/rotation thin shells and pressure/displacement poro-elastic materials, and its mesh was fine enough to reach 700 Hz, a frequency that was not previously reachable for such a fully coupled model.
These results demonstrate the ability of Actran to solve larger and larger models on a single node using the Intel Pardiso MKL® solver. It also paves the way for larger industrial models… Stay tuned !
